Replace deteriorating culvert and maintain a stabile road way along SR 1209 for the safety of the traveling public.
Existing sidewalk will be extended for pedestrians.

4g. Describe the overall project in detail, including the type of equipment to be used:
The e�asting 36" X36' CMP will be removed and replaced with the proposed 16' X4'3" X40' corrugated aluminum
box culvert. The grade of the roadway will be elevated 18" and the existing sidewalk will be extended over the
proposed culvert. This work will be accomplished using cranes, track excavators, backhoes, and dump trucks.
Dewatering operation will temporarily impact approx. 0.01 acre of the canal. Two water lines will be relocated
during the dewatering phase of the project.

Culvert replacement will stay on the ebsting alignment and traffic will be detoured around the site by using an off-
site detour. This will reduce temporary impacts to open waters by not utilizing an on-site detour and keeping the
road open.

NCDOT BMP's will be followed during bridge removal/installation and erosion control devices will be installed to
