Mason Sent: Tuesday, August 29, 2017 9:04 AM To: Shaver, Brad <Brad.E.Shaver@usace.army.mil>; Steenhuis, Joanne <joanne.steenhuis@ncdenr.gov> Subject: NC Drainage Improvement Project Importance: High NCDOT is having flooding problems on NC 50 near the Duplin/Pender County Line. Hydraulics as reviewed the site and recommended that we upsize some pipes and cleanout sediment at the Site 1 outlet. Attached is a package that includes a location map, aerial photo with descriptions of proposed work at each site, a LIDAR map of the project area and photos of the inlet and outlet of all three sites. Based on the information provided, we are proposing that Site 1 Inlet is not jurisdictional & outlet id a tributary within the proposed project limits, Site 2 is a tributary on both inlet and outlet and Site 3 is not jurisdictional. Please let me know if you concur with this assessment. The second question involves the cleanout of the outfall at Site 1. Our proposal is to use the existing pipe invert plus the 20% burial and carry that elevation out 150 ft. with a 0.5% fall. If agree that this is a tributary can I do this as maintenance like we discuss on Old Folkstone Rd or do I need to apply for NW3. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call. This is a priority for the Division because the road has severely flooded several times in the past few months. Thanks!
