It is dependent on Duke Power in North Carolina and while some may say that they will be diligent in protecting the area of the pipeline for spills, etc., they do not have a record that I would be comfortable with as it pertains to environmental issues. 2. The pipeline is going through environmentally sensitive areas of the state. The route was largely developed because the areas of the which might have been more appropriate rejected the route and because they had more resources (political and financial) the route ended up going through the poorest areas of the state. 3. While this might create jobs they will be temporary as the jobs will be in the building of the pipeline. After the completion there will be very few jobs. 4. NC is on the cusp of renewable energy, among the vanguard of states in development of wind and solar energy, a clean, reliable energy that is appropriate for the 21st century. Let's be on the correct side of history here. Work towards developing the renewable assets which we have in abundance here in North Carolina. Let's not look backward towards a past that has sullied our air and water and instead look to the future with clean, reliable energy that doesn't require pipelines to deliver.
