I have attended hearings on 401 certification and discussion of the proposed ACP on “water quality” and presented my
concerns…and listened to comments.
I find it most disturbing that comments endorsing the ACP had nothing to do with water quality and included potential
jobs, available taps, and the fact that the applicant (ACP) had filled out thousands of pages of required forms… I heard
no one say the ACP will help, protect, or conserve water quality.
IF the Department of Environmental Quality is to assess the project’s impact - possible or potential - to compromise or
degrade water quality/resources..THAT is the only thing the Department should be assessing. Job creation, power
generation, and the number of hoops the ACP proposers have jumped through should have NO bearing on THIS (YOUR)
permit process.
PLEASE…. Take responsibility for the charge before you: safeguarding our water resources.. and all that relates to THAT
(ground water, aquifers/ drinking water, wetlands, protected habitats, endangered species, etc.). If the ACP compromises
or jeopardizes our water resources, how can you possibly entertain approval of a permit?
PLEASE… deny the permit.
Thank You.
