At risk are nearly 37,000 feet of 326 waterbodies and at least 467.7 acres of valuable wetlands which filter pollutants, provide drinking water, and support businesses and recreation. Why assume that this pipeline could destroy or diminish all that? Well, honestly, because the best predictor of future behavior and results are PAST behavior and results, and what we've seen with the petroleum industry is that where it digs, it spills, and where it transports, it spills. Over and over and over: where there is petroleum at the surface, there are spills...from an industry whose history of willingness to seriously address or prevent those spills is sketchy, to say the least. And, as you know, the current application from ACP doesn’t provide nearly enough information for DEQ to make a sound decision. Please: reject this application and the pipeline. If ACP is serious about wanting a pipeline, then require it to provide the information you need to make a decision, and to provide, and document, the preventive measures it's taking to avoid spills in all the communities and resources through which this pipeline would pass, and require those measures to live up to the best and strictest possible standards of safety. If ACP can't do that, it doesn't deserve even a chance to poison our wells, contaminate our streams, or damage our common and individual properties. Thank you.
