Subject:Request regarding ACP
Dear leaders of the NC Department of Environmental Quality:
I ask you to please reject the 40 1 water quality certification for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. As a North Carolina resident
and an American, I am very concerned about the direction our nation and world are heading with environmental and
energy policy. Like many other projects of its kind, the ACP seems appealing because it offers short-term financial gains, but
what we need are long-term policies that will assure a healthy future for our planet.
Choosing to place more importance on money than on the health of our environment and communities is abhorrent. In this
case, North Carolina could make the right choice, setting an example for other states as they encounter decisions regarding
pipelines and the dying fossil fuel industry. It makes no sense to continue propping up the fossil fuel industry through
policy; Investing in renewable energy has been shown time and again through scientific research to be the best approach to
creating a healthy future for us all.
Thank you for considering my request.
