Dear Mr. Sipe:
The subject permit was issued to you on June 12, 1987. Duke Power adjudicated
the permit based on certain conditions contained in Part III of the permit that
related to groundwater monitoring. During a meeting between the Division and Duke
Power, it was agreed to delete conditions D, S, and T from Part III and to add a
surface water monitoring requirement.
This letter is to provide formal notification that the Division is hereby
modifying the subject permit to delete conditions D, S, and T of Part III and to add
condition V as follows:
V. A study will be completed to further define the assimilative
capacity of the Catawba River for pollutants potentially reaching
the river, and the current impact of the discharge from both
surface and subsurface sources. A study plan will be submitted
to the permitting agency by June 1, 1988, outlining parameters, e'a�°��'�s7s §
locations and frequency of monitoring. The study will be comped F

SUBJECT: Duke Power Company/Riverbend
This correspondence is to advise you that I was contacted by Mr. Ralph
Roberts of Duke Power on March 25, 1988. He called to inform me that the
draft language concerning the stream monitoring for this facility was
acceptable as submitted.
The following is the language I submitted to our permits staff and I
assume this is what will be in the permit condition:
A study will be completed to further define the assimilative of the

impact of the discharge from both surface and subsurface sources. A study
plan will be submitted to the permitting agency by June 1, 1988 outlining
