Duke Power Company (704) 373-4011 Fossil Production Department P 0 Box 33189 422 South Church Street Chmlove, N C 28242 DUKE POKIER July 17, 1989 Mr. Steve W. Tedder North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Community Development 512 North Salisbury Street P. 0. Box 27687 Raleigh, North Carolina 27611-7687 Subject: Riverbend Steam Station NPDES Permit Mt. Island Lake Water Quality Study File: RB -704.10 Dear Mr. Tedder: Thank you for your comments concerning the report, "Mountain Island Lake, North Carolina: Water Quality Monitoring 1988". We agree to continue monitor- ing fish and sediment trace elements once per year at the same stations as sampled in 1988. The next sampling is scheduled for late summer 1989. Enclosed is the ANOVA summary for sediment trace elements requested by the Water Quality Section. Also enclosed is the vertical transect field data for DO, temperature, pH and specific conductance. The specific conductance data along horizontal transects at each station showed little variability. Unfortunately this data was not recorded and therefore cannot be submitted. If you have any questions or comments, please call me at (704) 373-6133. Sincerely, Ralph C. Roberts Fossil Environmental Compliance JUL 20 is i RCR:mp .: R Y. I 1 Enclosures cc: w/o enclosures B. K.
