Dear Division of Water Resources,
Our state is fortunate to be so rich with clean energy potential. Developing that should be our focus, not building out
fossil fuel infrastructure that will facilitate the transport of the dirty energy that cannot be used without causing
irreparable harm to our state, our people, our nation and our only planet.
I hope that NCDEQ will reject the Atlantic Coast Pipeline LLC's 401 Water Quality Certification application.
The construction of the pipeline could harm aquatic life and habitats, smothering spawning beds and fish eggs. These
spawning and nursery areas are essential to endangered species such as the Atlantic sturgeon and the Shortnose
sturgeon, and home to the Neuse River Waterdog, Carolina Madtom, and several other species of concern in North
Carolina.
For these reasons, I urge you to reject the 401 Water Quality Certification application from Atlantic Coast Pipeline LLC.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Phillip Davis
