Based on our recent experiences with coal ash polluting our rivers and streams, I am more than concerned about the damage it could cause to our environment and our waterways. The construction of the pipeline could harm aquatic life and habitats, smothering spawning beds and fish eggs. These spawning and nursery areas are essential to endangered species such as the Atlantic sturgeon and the Shortnose sturgeon, and home to the Neuse River Waterdog, Carolina Madtom, and several other species of concern in North Carolina. Tourism to North Carolina and the financial benefit it brings is, tied to the pristine nature of our diverse environment. This pipeline is not necessary and is far to risky for our state. For these reasons, I urge you to reject the 401 Water Quality Certification application from Atlantic Coast Pipeline LLC. Thank you. Sincerely, Tara Wolcott 6007 Graystone Dr Chapel Hill, NC 27514 1
