Subject:NO to ACP
I am writing to express my strongest opposition to the concept of building an Atlantic Coast Pipeline for natural gas.
Additional natural gas is not needed along the central Atlantic coast. Demand is not increasing, and any possible future
needs could and should be found in renewable sources. The ACP is only a way to stimulate profits for our largest energy
companies.
In addition to not being needed, the ACP would bring ecological disaster to the entire region. Our area of the country is
characterized by fragile and interconnected bodies of water. Heavy construction through or under these bodies of
water, to build the pipeline, would be hugely destructive. Furthermore, any pipeline has a large risk of rupture or
leakage, either of which would further devastate vast portions of the eastern seaboard.
If corporate profits are the only real reason behind building an unnecessary and almost guaranteed to be destructive
pipeline, then it should be obvious that the ACP should NOT be built.
Please file my comments under NO WAY, ACP!
Sincerely, Elsa Desrochers
