My good friend is a PhD whose specialty is in wetland restoration. The focus of her work has been to attempt to restore the beauty and ecological diversity of once pristine wetlands. I know from conversations with her that such efforts are precarious at best. I, like many others, am very concerned about the Atlantic Coast Pipeline's 401 Water Quality Certification application. In it, they claim that they'll restore waterbodies and wetlands back to being healthy. However, the applicant does not list any specific plans to measure or monitor the waterways they say would be impacted. Protecting our waterways is important to me and the Atlantic Coast Pipeline could put them in jeopardy. I stand with others in asking that you reject the application from the Atlantic Coast Pipeline LLC because it does not meet my and DEQ's standards of protecting our waterways. Thank you. Sincerely, Leanne Nichols 1917 Conifer Circle Charlotte, NC 28213 1
