Dear Division of Water Resources,
I am writing to let you know that I'm opposed to the Atlantic Coast Pipeline and urge you to reject their 401 Water
Quality Certification application.
The application submitted by the Atlantic Coast Pipeline LLC doesn't provide enough information on the cumulative
water quality impacts of past, present, and reasonably foreseeable projects related to the Atlantic Coast Pipeline.
Additionally, Duke Energy has a deplorable record for containing their waste products (coal ash) and has recently (within
the last 5 years) been responsible for the coal ash spills which lead to the contamination of the multiple waterways
throughout North Carolina. And then they intend to pass the costs of their negligence on to us in their request to raise
rates this year.
Supporting irresponsible and deplorable corporations and environmentally harmful industries is not only counter-
intuitive to our future, it is morally reprehensible. I respectfully ask that DEQ reject the application and the pipeline all
together.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Christopher Bledsoe
