Koo. I am a retired physician residing in Rocky Mount, Nash County, NC. Although the proposed pipeline does not directly cross my property, I am strongly opposed to its presence or even the need for such an environmentally toxic structure. Here are the reasons I am unequivocally against it: 1. The dangers of spills, leaks and explosions far outweighs any benefits one thousand times over. 2. The short and long term toxicity to human health and well being is too horrifying to think about; 3. The danger of poisoning our water is too great and threatens our very survival here in eastern NC if we allow this to happen. Water is Life! 4. As a corollary, it will also threaten the fishes, water fauna and flora, all of which are dependent on clean water and whom we are dependent on in our finely tuned ecosystems. 5. it contributes greatly to global warming and our planetary health. What a terrible idea of leveling a mountain top, not to mention gouging supersize ruts, and methane leaks, etc. 6. It will jack up my utility bills as Duke is already planning to ask for an egregious @20% rate hike, part of which to support the building of this pipeline which I am strongly opposed to. 7. It is not necessary, and only serve the bottom line of private energy companies at the expense of taxpayers’ money. i have made my major points above, and will stop here. Also I would like to let you know that while I will not hesitate to join with many hundreds of thousands of private citizens who oppose the building of this monstrous entity, I hope you will listen to our voices and consider denying the pipeline from crossing NC. Thank You, Dr. Kim E. Koo kekoo@centurylink.net 1
