We actually used the SB label for the roadside ditch on the south side of Meeting House
Branch near the southern end of the project. That feature is not mapped on the USGS
or Soils map, so it was not included in the buffer review.

The feature that you are referring to that shows on the soils map west of the study area
does appear to be a relocated feature that runs through the residential area south of
the First Christian Church. Within the study area, it is a small ditch that did not appear
to have stream features during our field evaluation (scored a 10 on the DWR Stream ID
form). I apologize for leaving that off of the buffer request. If you need me to add that
information to the maps, I’m happy to do so.

I was able to get out there today and ride through the study area. I agree that the
features you have labeled as Feature 1 and Feature 2 on the Soils Map that was
submitted in your package were not present in the field. I didn’t see where SB was on
any of the maps. Do you think it may have been a relocated stream feature that shows
on the soils map to the west of the study area?

The Stream Buffer Determination package for U-5917, Fourteenth Street Widening
Project, in Greenville is attached. There are two features that are mapped on the
county soils map that were not present during our field evaluation and we believe
should be exempted from the Tar-Pamlico Buffer Rules. If you’d like to schedule a site
review to look at these features or anything else on the project, please contact me.
