REGAN Secretary S JAY ZIMMERMAN Director On August 08, 2017, Roberto Scheller of this Office conducted an inspection at the subject facility This inspection was conducted as a Compliance Evaluation Inspection (CEI) to insure compliance with permit requirements and conditions At the time of inspection facility appeared to be very well maintained and operated, however, an issue with the influent sampler was noted during the subject Inspection Please check the influent sampler to ensure sampler is located above all side streams of wastewater, such as backwash water and/or supernatant from sludge dewatering being sent back to head of plant Such side streams would skew Influent analytical data and miss represent treatment plant loading and removal rates It was also noted that this facility experienced a plant upset that was reported to this Office on July 14, 2017 It is the recommendations of this Office that headworks be fitted with pH, DO and ORP probes to detect damaging Influents and divert to equalization basin before they reach treatment units We wish to thank you and the operating staff for assistance regarding this inspection The enclosed report should be self-explanatory, however, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact myself of Roberto Scheller at (704) 235-2204 or roberto.scheller@ncdenr.gov.
