Aid No: Funding: X State Federal Federal X Yes No Permit USACE/FEMA Permit s : Type(s : Proiect Description: Replae Bridge No. 315 on SR 1949 (Main Street) over Durham Creek off-site detour, no im rovements . SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW DESCRIPTIONOFREVIEWACTIVITIES. RESULTS, AND CONCLUSIONS: HPOWeb reviewed on 4 August 2016 and yielded two SS and no NR, SL, DE, or LD properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Beaufort County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated a mostly wooded APE with several resources dating from the first half of the twentieth century (viewed 4 August 2016). The APE intersects three parcels on which stand a circa-1930 house approximately 500 feet east of the existing bridge, a circa-1960 house (BF1743) about 130 feet west of the bridge, and a circa-1934 store (BF1741) about 350 feet west of the bridge, all beyond likely project impact. Constructed in 1961, Bridge No. 315 is not eligible for the National Register as it is not representative of any distinctive engineering or aesthetic type. Google Maps Street View" confirmed the presence and placement of architectural and landscape resources in the APE relative to the proposed construction (viewed 4 August 2016). No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined. WHY THEAVAILABLE INFORMATIONPROVIDESA RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLYPREDICTING THAT THERE ARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC ARCHITECTDRAL OR LANDSCAPE RESOURCES IN THE PROJECTAREA: APE extends 200 feet from the either end of the existing bridge (E-W) and 100 feet to either side of the SR 1949 (Main Street) centerline (N-S) to encompass proposed construction activities. No comprehensive county architectural survey exists for areas outside municipalities, but other previous studies recorded no properties in the APE besides the two noted above. County GIS/tax materials and other visuals support the absence of significant architectural and landscape resources likely to be affected by the proposed work. No National Register-listed properties are located within the APE or along the proposed off-site detour route. Should any aspect of the project design change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture as additional review may be necessary.
