Per our phone conversation, I am emailing a response to your 20 April 2017 RFAI, specifically #3, which reads:
Please provide explanation why the proposed sewer line in the location of the earthen causeway could
not be elevated over existing coastal wetlands located on pile bents adjacent to the authorized elevated
timber bridge. Please explain why a pressure sewer system with individual simplex pump stations and a
single low pressure sewer cannot be utilized rather than the gravity line to pump station force main.
Please provide explanation for the proposed sewer system design and how it differs from the
authorized sewer system to Aqua NC in 2007 (WQ0031975).
The Applicant chose to incorporate the suggested pressure sewer system, with individual simplex pumps, to
serve the four "island lots". This allowed the previously proposed bridge to be used to access the lots, rather
than an earthen causeway.
It is my hope that this information will allow you to process the DWR WQ certification. However, if you should
need additional information, please feel free to call.
