The structure is to be replaced by a bridge on its current location. The existing structure is 211 foot long (1 @ 35"4”, 4@ 35', 1@ 35'4") with steel planks and I-beams with wooden vertical abuhnents. The proposed bridge is a 227 foot long 21" cored slab bridge (1 @ 58' 10.5", 1@50'0", 1@ 60'0", 1@ 58' 10.5") with 4'0" bent caps and spill trough abuhnents. An off-site detour is proposed. No deck drains are proposed. Two stormwater outfalls are proposed with a Rip Rap pad to dissipate the energy at the end of the outfall. Construction of this project will require impacts to waters of the United States in the Cape Fear River Basin. The existing bridge crosses South River, a Class C;Sw water. Please find attached a Pre-Construction Notification (PCN), Stormwater Management Plan, and Permit Drawings. A US Army Corps of Engineers Preliminary Jurisdictional Determination was obtained May 4, 2016 (SAW-2016-00756). Proposed impacts to wetlands include <0.01 acre (400 sq ft) of wetland fill, 0.01 acre of wetland excavation, 0.10 acre of Hand Clearing with 7 LF of permanent stream impacts.
