Please ensure all standard Erosion and Sedimentation Control BMPs are implemented, if applicable. I’d also like after photos if possible. The area is an approximately 4 X 8 ft area (see attached pictures) and I 1 have instructed the contractor to remove the sediment by hand and dispose of properly. Through recommendations from NCDOT Roadside Environmental, the area has already been repaired and adjustments have been made to strengthen the site against future erosion from stormwater run-off. However, because the stream banks are mostly sandy and are poorly vegetated in some places, there is concern that any future significant rain event may cause slope failure and result in sediment discharging into the stream. I would like to discuss the possibility of slightly laying the slope back in the area where stormwater is proposed to outlet to the stream (between the existing bridge and temporary bridge) and riprapping the banks above the ordinary high water mark in that area to help ensure bank stabilization. I will call after you have had time to review this e-mail and pictures. Please let me know if you have any questions.
