Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Desi n/Future: 140 Year: 2036 Existin : 130 Year: 2016 General Project Narrative: The purpose of the project is to replace substandard bridge #470014 on White Plains Road (SR 1108) with a new bridge. The existing bridge is 35 feet in length (2 @ 17'-6") (Description of Minimization of Water spans and has a clear roadway width of 23 feet. The sufficiency rating is 30 (structurally deficient). The proposed bridge will consist of a single span 55 feet in length with Quality Impacts) vertical abutments. The clear roadway width will be 27'-10". The bridge crosses an unnamed canal that extends to the Pamlico Sound. There is an existing channel < that is approximately 8 feet wide and 3 feet deep that is beside the road on the northeast side. The proposed roadway approach to the new bridge has been shifted slightly to avoid impacting this channel.The elevation of the new roadway grade has also been set to minimize the roadway footprint and avoid impacting the channel. Existing surtace drainage patterns will be maintained without any diversion.
