SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW
Description ofreview activities, results, and conclusions: HPOWeb reviewed on 11 June 2015
and yielded no NR, SL, LD, DE, and one SS properties in and near the Area of Potential Effects
(APE). Wilkes County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated a
mostly wooded APE with sparsely placed, above-ground resources dating from the 1940s to the
early 2000s (viewed il June 2015). The SS property, Bridge No. 66 (WK0326) on SR 1135
(Champion Road) over Stoney Fork Creek, is now a 1997 structure that sits just SW of the APE.
Several resources dating to the 1940s and 1950s are unexceptional and altered examples of
their types. Google Maps ��Street View" confirmed the absence of critical structures and
landscape resources in the APE (viewed 11 June 2015).
No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined.
Whv the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonablv nredictinQ that there
are no unidentified si�ni�cant historic architectural or landscape resources in the proiect
area: APE extends 100 feet from either end of the proposed 1.38-mile project length (NE-SW)
and 100 feet to either side of the SR 1158 (Conley Shumaker Road) centerline (NW-SE) to
encompass proposed construction activities. While no comprehensive historic architectural
survey of Wilkes County exists, county GIS/tax materials and other visuals clearly illustrate the
absence of significant architectural resources. No National Register-listed properties are located
within the APE.

as additional review mav be necessarv.
