Dear Mr. Harris:
I refer to your request of May 25, 2017, concerning agency acknowledgement that the
stream mitigation site located in Jacktown Creek, which is adjacent to NC 226 and the entrance
to McDowell Technical Community College, does not require further monitoring.
This site consists of approximately 4501inear feet (1� of stream restoration, of which 175
lf were used to offset stream impacts associated with the B-4191 project, as authorized by
Department of the Army permit number SAW-2009-00707. The remaining 2751f will be
considered an onsite asset and may be available to serve as compensatory mitigation for future
projects in the service area if this use is approved by the state and federal environmental
regulatory agencies.
We concur that you have completed the requirements to monitor this compensatory
mitigation site and no further monitoring of this site is required.
