HomeMy WebLinkAbout20170731 Ver 1_3-170608_Project-Narrative-SEC_20170612PROJECT NARRATIVE BOOKER DAIRY ROAD WATER MAIN EXTENSION AND REPLACEMENT TOWN OF SMITHFIELD JOHNSTON COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA i�I��:Z�al�L�11M17�Yy:7i�_M_[I]`►I This project proposes the installation of approximately 11,650 LF of 16-inch water main, 250 LF of 12-inch water main, 630 LF of 8-inch water main, 35 LF of 6-inch water main, and 134 LF of 4-inch water main. The 16-inch main replacement starts at the intersection of Booker Dairy Rd. and Buffalo Road. It continues to the east side of Bradford Street where the alignment goes cross-country along a new NCDOT road system. This new road continues to join Ava Gardner Avenue. The replacement continues down Ava Gardner to the intersection of US 301. From here the replacement routes south down US 301 to Shelter Way and down Shelter way to the elevated water tank. A114", 6", 8" and 12" water mains are reconnections to existing water mains that are tied to the 16" main being replaced. The total disturbed area for the project is approximately (8.0) acres. This permit is for a specific area of approximately 1,265 LF of 16-inch water main to be installed through a wetland area, as shown on the revised drawings included in this pernut. Wetland disturbance starts on sheet 9 at Station 45+50 and ends on sheet 10 at Station 58+15 2.0 SITE DESCRIPTION The Booker Dairy Road Water Main Extension and Replacement project is being built within utility easements and NCDOT rights-of-way. A portion of this project, specifically what is included in this permit, is a new road extension through land that was previously privately owned. The site is primarily open areas, cleared easements, and road right-of-way. Where practicable, lines will be placed inside NCDOT rights-of-way along the shoulder of the road. The water mains will be installed within easements and will minimizing disturbed area where possible. There are no stream crossings. The area included in this permit is the only wetland disturbance.
