Please find the attached Thallium results for Outfall 001 covering twelve months of data
ranging from June 2016 through May 2017.
Per McGuire's 2016 NPDES Permit, the station may request removal of the Thallium
monitoring requirement if twelve data points are obtained and no reasonable potential to
exceed a water quality standard exists. Based on all twelve results being below the
reporting limit of 0 2 ug/I, we are requesting that the Division remove this limit from our
permit. The sampling data has been included as Attachment A to this correspondence.

*All Samples collected from June 2016 through May 2017 were analyzed and reported by the Duke Energy Analytical Laboratory
(DEAL). The DEAL is a North Carolina (NC) Certified Laboratory (certificate number 248) and holds certification in NC for the analysis of
thallium in groundwater and wastewater via EPA method 200.8. All sample analyses utilized sufficiently sensitive test procedures
approved under 40 CFR part 136 for the analysis of thallium. All sample analyses were less than (<) the DEAL analytical reporting limit
of 0.2 ug/L. All analyses were below the McGuire Nuclear Station NPDES permit monthly average thallium limit of 0.24 ug/L, as well
as, below the 0.24 ug/L EPA recommended water quality criteria for water supply waterbodies.
