I'll let the site know that a small amount of lithium chloride can be used for balancing the flows from the ash basin. I recommend you go ahead and proceed but maintain exhaustive records. On the pilot study issue, I had a chance to talk with Dave today about it. He and I agree that really don't have a mechanism for approving such a thing in the short-term and doing it via telephone tag isn't the best way to approach it. We probably need something from you guys in writing with maps attached. However, he did indicate that in principle he didn't like the idea of basically just diluting the sluice water with the CCW stream. So, it sounds to me like the best approach right now is to send us something (or bring it up 1 of 2 8/19/03 8:54 AM Re: FLOW TESTING USING LITHIUM CHLORIDE here) with a proposal and we'll try to sort it out. Unfortunately I've got lots of fires burning at the moment, so time is a premium. Thanks, Mark Robert R Wylie wrote.: Mark, As we discussed, at Plant Allen we need to conduct some flow balance measurements of the water treated with Ferric Sulfate with the other water >from the ash basin. An approach that will be quick and useful is to add very small amounts of lithium chloride for a short duration. The tests should only occur for minutes at a time and only a few grams of lithium chloride will be used. Please advise if this is okay. Thanks, Robert Mark D. McIntire, P.E.
