DIST. —PLACED _ RECEIVED _ RETURNED Francine Durso (POH) TALKED WITH Dave Goodrich OF NC Division of Water Quality, NPDES Group PROJECT NAME CP&L WWTP Evaluation PROJECT NO. 39573.0000 THE FOLLOWING CONFIRMATION SHOULD BE REVIEWED BY ALL WHOM DISTRIBUTION IS MADE. ANY ERRORS, AMBIGUITIES OR OMISSIONS OF MERIT SHOULD BE CALLED TO THE ATTENTION OF THE UNDERSIGNED AT (919) 7825511 WITHIN TEN DAYS. Mr. Goodrich called to address the request in my 12/26/96 letter concerning discharge permit limits for Outfalls 002 and 007 if all flow was combined into one outfall. His response was as follows: Outfall 002 - Harris Nuclear Plant WWTP Permit limits would likely remain the same as the current limits because the flow is combined with other flows in the combined outfall discharge point: Outfall 007 - Harris Energy & Environmental Center WWTP With the proposed flow increase from 20,000 GPD to 40,000 GPD, the permit limits would likely remain the same as the current limits. He advised that discharge into a cove of the .lake such as Outfall 007 is not as preferable as discharge into the main body of the lake, with respect to eutrophication. Summary Permit limits for either outfall would likely remain the same as the current limits. DWQ would prefer the discharge through Outfall 002 because it discharges into the main body of Harris Lake. P.O.
