HomeMy WebLinkAbout20060208 Ver 2_Email_20080916Re FW Construction issue on B-3917 in Wake Co Subject Re FW Construction issue on B-3917 in Wake Co From Rob Ridings <rob ridings@ncmail net> Date Tue, 16 Sep 2008 15 52 24 -0400 To "Murray, Christopher A" <cmurray@ncdot gov> Chris, Sorry, I thought I had replied This is fine proceed Thanks, Rob Murray, Christopher A wrote Rob, We discussed this issue last week during our meeting on Airport Blvd agreement with the proposal Thanks, Chris -----Original Message----- From Murray, Christopher A Sent Thursday, September 11, 2008 4 41 PM To Rob Ridings Cc Allen, Jeffrey D, Griffin, Benjamin R, Pearson, Donald R Subject Construction issue on B-3917 in Wake Co Reference TIP No B-3917 DWQ Project No 20060208 lk e Rob, I just wanted to confirm your The NCDOT sent your office a letter dated August 26, 2008 that discussed a construction issue associated with Bridge 311 over Lake Wheeler on SR 1379 (Penny Road) in Wake County A pre-existing pipe around Station 22+00 to 22+50 Lt was filled in during construction of the project causing ponding of water in the nearby location It was determined that re-establishing a conveyance in its previous location was allowable under the Neuse River riparian buffer rule The NCDOT hydraulics unit provided a revised permit drawing that deputed construction of a lateral rip-rap lined v ditch (with 3 1 slopes) from 22+00 to 24+00 Lt The Division 5 survey party has determined that the rip rap lined v ditch with either a 3 1 slope or 2 1 slope cannot be constructed because of ROW and riparian buffer footprint limitations We proposed to install a 15 inch corrugated metal pipe from 22+00 to 22+40 Lt, which will allow water to drain from the ponded area Additionally, a 12 foot long rip rap pad will be installed at the outlet of the corrugated metal pipe We feel that this design is appropriate and within falls the intent of previous discussions between the NCDOT and your office The pipe structure only serves to convey the water from the ponded area The rip rap pad at the outlet of the structure will serve to slow down runoff through the pipe prior to entering Lake Wheeler The attached figure provides a sketch of what is proposed at the site There will be no additional impacts to jurisdictional streams, wetlands or riparian buffers as a result of this proposed activity Please confirm your understanding and agreement of the issues addressed in this email Thank you again in advance for your assistance on this project Chris Murray NCDOT Div 5 DEO 1 of 2 9/16/2008 4 13 PM Re: FW: Construction issue on B-3917 in Wake Co. 2 of 2 9/16/2008 4:13 PM
