Level Spreader #1 (treating Drainage Area #3): The photograph indicates that the
filter strip consists of wooded vegetation, not dense vegetation. Thus, the level
spreader (sized at 13 feet per cfs) is not long enough to handle the flow that is
being directed toward it. Please redesign this portion of the project so that the
level spreader length is appropriate for the type of vegetation in the filter strip.
Also, please show a profile of the roadway and the roadway drainage system.
This will assist the DWQ in determining if the flow can be conveyed to the level
spreader based on the topography.
2. Scour Hole #1 (treating the discharge from Scour Hole #1): The slopes within the
filter strip appear to be approximately 4 percent, which exceeds the allowable
slopes of 2 percent or less for scour holes. Please provide a level spreader in this
location. In your resubmittal, please call out the invert of the discharge point.
This will assist the DWQ in determining if the flow can be conveyed to the level
spreader based on the topography.
3. SE Portion of Project: Please provide diffuse flow provisions to convey
stormwater from the impervious surfaces on this part of the project to the
receiving stream.
