By letter dated July 11, 2008, Alcoa Power Generating Inc. (APGI) notified the Federal Energy
Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the North Carolina Division of Water Quality (NCDWQ)
of the need to temporarily remove the continuous dissolved oxygen monitor in the Tuckertown
tailwater due to extreme low water conditions, which made it unsafe to service the monitor and
could damage the monitor probe. APGI reinstalled the Tuckertown tailwater monitor on
September 2, 2008 because recent rainfall raised the water level in Narrows Reservoir (which
significantly influences the water levels in the Tuckertown tailwater).
By copy of this letter, APGI is also notifying NCDWQ of this situation. Please do not hesitate to
contact me at (704) 422-5606 or gene.ellis??alcoa.com if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Gene Ellis
