Hey guys, you may have received a hard copy of this already. If not, attached is the
revised drawing for Carolina Coast and Lakes depicting the change from a boat ramp, to a
canoe/kayak launch. If you can shoot me your comments on the revised proposal as soon as

SUBJECT: Carolina Coast & Lakes, LLC major permit application
Please find enclosed a letter dated August 22, 2008 from Mr. Kendall Tumage, of Environmental
Professionals, requesting a modification to the Chadwick Shores Plantation application for a
major permit. The proposed development is for a subdivision with infrastructure and a boat ramp
on Alligator Creek at 990 Old Windberry Road in Mill Creek, Carteret County.
Based on comments by the DMF, the applicant wishes to remove the boat ramp from the
proposal and construct a wooden kayak launching facility in its place. This kayak launch
consists of a 3' by 30' wooden walkway that will access a 4' by 10' drop-down platform. These
changes are represented on the site plan dated August 22, 2008.
I would recommend that copies of this proposed modification be submitted to the NC Division of
Marine Fisheries, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the NC Division of Water Quality for
review and comments.

Per the discussions at the multi agency meeting between Mr. Bill Pearson and NCDENR
staff regarding the boat ramp and other discussions, please find attached the revised
common area development proposal that proposes to construct a Canoe/Kayak launch in
lieu of the formerly proposed concrete boat ramp in the original application.
The attached drawing is reflective of Mr. Pearson's understanding of NC Division of
Marine Fisheries and Coastal Management suggestions and requests at the multi-agency
meeting and to meet the requests in the previous NCDMF letter dated.7/23/08 by Patricia
Murphy favoring a canoe/kayak launch in this common area location.
The following improvements are proposed for the canoe kayak launch: .
30' X 3' wood walkway from highground to the Mean High Water alignment
4" X 10' Wood Platform for launching and ingress/egress into canoes/kayaks
Stairs (approximately 4 steps) from the walkway down to wood platform
(approximately 3 feet lower than walkway)
