HomeMy WebLinkAboutNorth Shore Road (9)[Fwd Re fax rec'vd] Subject: [Fwd Re fax rec'vd] From: Jeff manning <j eff manning @ ncmail net> Date: Thu, 10 Nov 2005 08 12 30 -0500 To: Brian Wrenn <bnan wenn@ncmail net> Brian, FYI - when (or IF) it comes time to do a 401 cert for the North Shore, there is a map available from the USGS store in the Archdale building that would probably be very useful -- it shows where the Anakeesta formations are and thus where acid-producing potential is high Just thought I'd pass this along so you can have it in your file Thanks, Jeff Subject: Re fax rec'vd From: Rick Wooten <Rick Wooten@ncmail net> Date: Thu, 10 Nov 2005 07 33 05 -0500 To: Jeff manning <j eff manning @ ncmail net> Matt, You are correct You probably can't tell from the fax'ed version, but the left bar in the Zwe section is a metasiltstone (NNP - -18) and the other bar to the right is a graphitic schist (NNP - -17) On the Noland Creek geologic map there are three 'black schist' units mapped - an upper (ga5), middle (ga3, and lower (gal) within the Anakeesta Formation (same as Wehutty in this case) The black schist units are the ones most likely to be acidic, however, other units within the Great Smoky Group can be acidic locally Rick Jeff manning wrote Rick, On the chart in the fax, there are two graph bars in the Zwe section that are less than -5, right9 Therefore, some of the Zwe formations would have acid-producing potential, right?
