From: Matt Matthews Or'"
Subject: Toxicity Testing Requirement
Duke Power Co.-Belews Creek Steam Station
1`:PDES No. NCO024406 Pipe No. 005
Stokes County
As per my phone conversation with you this date, Duke Power Co. representatives have
requested that the test organism for the pass/fail analysis for the subject facility and pipe be
changed from fathead minnow to Ceriodaphnia dubia . It is our best professional
judgement that an acute limit specifying Ceriodaphnia dubia will be as restrictive for this
particular facility. This judgement is based upon the kinds of toxicants expected to be
present in this discharge. Therefore, our office would be agreeable with this change in test
type.
If there are any questions, please contact me at 733-2136.
