Response to comments on Draft Permit
The comments submitted by Duke Power (January 29, 1993) on the Draft permit for
the renewal of the NPDES permit have been reviewed by Technical Support. In
response to the comment No. 6. concerning the deletion of the priority pollutant
analysis, I offer the following explanation. The annual priority pollutant
analysis is a requirement of all major municipalities in the state of North
Carolina. This data collected is important to include in a data base for
further evaluation of the major and industrial discharges to the waters of the
state. Therefore, this requirement should remain part of the permit requirment
for pipe 003.
I have attached a memo from Matt Matthews of the Aquatic Toxicology Unit
confirming the acceptance of the toxicity organism to be changed from fathead
minnow to Ceriodaphnia dubia.
