Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Desi n/Future: 930 Year: 2010 Existin : 930 Year: 2010 General Project Narrative: The purpose of this project is to replace existing bridge No. 176 on SR 1836 over Hoyle Creek in Gaston County. The existing bridge is a 3-span structure with a total length of (Description of Minimization of Water 90'. The proposed bridge is a 3-span structure with a total length of 100'. The proposed bridge will be built in the same location as the existing bridge and maintain the existing Quality Impacts) grade. The road will be closed during construction and all traffic will be moved to an off-site detour. All storm drainage is discharged as far away from the stream as practical while maintaining existing flow patterns. Rip Rap is used to diffuse flow where applicable. Methods utilized to minimize impacts: -Proposed alignment placed on existing alignment to minimize additional upstream and downstream impacts to jurisdictional feature -New design places bents out of water, eliminates one bent currently at stream's edge -Fill slopes set at 2:1 to minimize impact to existing drainage patterns and fill slopes stabilized with vegetation -Promotion of sheet flow (grade to drain notes) and infiltration with grassed shoulders and swales as practical. -Rip rap placed in ditches as necessary to diffuse flow and provide energy dissipation -Storm drainage outlets to rip rap pad to reduce velocity and diffuse flow -Bank stabilization provided under new structure to reduce bank erosion Waterbody Information Surface Water Body (1): Hoyle Creek NCDWR Stream Index No.: 11-129-15-(6) NCDWR Surface Water Classification for Water Body Primary Classification: Water Supply IV (WS-IV) Supplemental Classification: Other Stream Classification: Impairments: None Aquatic T&E Species?
