RE: MY2 Comments Coon Creek Riparian Buffer Pitt County DMS ID 95807; Contract 5153 Dear Daniel, PAT MCCRORY Governor DONALD R. VAN DER VAART Secretory January 14, 2016 Staff at Division of Mitigation Services (DMS) received your draft monitoring report on January 6, 2016. Based on the office report review, please address the following comments. Remove, 'Barely' in Appendix B for buffer totals. You may want to consider those in your replant of the vegetation areas that are not meeting success, but you can code them as meeting success for this report. The buffer asset in the report does not match the shapefile areas. Please revise (I believe this gives us additional 0.2 acres riparian buffer credit). Item Report GIS 0-50 187,308 187,216 50-100 174,240 172,780 NO 361,548 631,823 It appears that there is some encroachment. Ensure that the encroached areas are planted and that the landowner understands he may access the pond on foot through the easement, but not mow or cut vegetation. The shapefiles look good, so you won't have to resubmit those in subsequent years. Lastly, please invite me out this growing season after you've replanted the site. It is a good idea to get the replanting done in dormant season MY2 rather than waiting for later in the monitoring period. After these updates are made and reviewed, provide 3 hard copies of the final report (make sure to replace Final to footer and front page), along with any UPDATED digital files and the PDF hard copy via CD along with your invoice. Thank you for your work, the report was well done.
