"Wally" Overman; Bobby Outten - Dare County (outten@darenc.com); Rosov, Brad; Howell, Jonathan; Staples, Shane; Pelletier, Josh R SAW; Ken Riley; Bodnar, Gregg; Davis, Braxton C; Lopazanski, Mike; Huggett, Doug Subject: RE: Hatteras Inlet Maintenance Dredging Permit 129-16 Ken DCM has spent a significant amount of time reviewing this request in the last two days. DCM is sympathetic to the timing delays that the County has run into, and we are certainly aware of the urgency of this matter. Still, DCM believes that the request that dredging be allowed to take place through mid-June is excessive at this time based upon the anticipated start date of the dredging operations, as well as the anticipated time that it will take for the work to be completed. With this in mind, and again taking into account the urgency of this project, DCM does agree to allow dredging operations on this project to take place until May 15`", 2017. If by May 15th, dredging operations have begun, if significant progress has been made towards project completion, and if no more than a few extra days would be needed to complete the project, DCM agrees to entertain an additional request for maintenance relief at that time. Additionally, we would like to ask that weekly reports be provided to DCM once work has begun so that we may remain informed about the progress being made towards project completion. Please also note that this approval on DCM's part does not eliminate the need to obtain additional approvals that may be required from any other permit agency, including but not limited to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. I know that all parties are anxious for this work to be completed as quickly as possible, and it is my sincere hope that the additional 45 days will be more than adequate to allow for the project to be competed. As always, If I can provide any additional information or help on this or any other matter, please don't hesitate to let me know. We've prepared the attached letter requesting relief from the construction window, which includes the most up to date estimated schedule. We have also included additional information with regards to the potential for impacts as it relates to constructing the maintenance event outside the previously established construction windows. Please review the letter and let us know if you need any additional information to consider the relief requested. Needless to say, we will keep you updated on any changes to the schedule as new data becomes available.
