Dear Mr. Ward,
The North Carolina Department of Transportation would like to request a permit.
modification far Craven 50. The Nationwide Permit Number 14 has an action ID Number of
SAW-2008-00473. The Division of Water Quality Project Number is 20051171. The
Department would like to requesfi a permit modification for an additional 0.15 acres of 404
Wetland Impacts. The Total Wetland Impacts will be 0.23 Acres. The original Riparian. Buffer
Zone 1 Impacts were 3,195 Square Feet; we would like. an.additiona12,286 Square Feet (0.05
Acres). The original Riparian Buffer Zone 2 Impacts were 1,675 .Square Feet and we would like
an additional 1,306 Square Feet (0.03 Acres) far a Total of 5,481 Square Feet (0.1.3 Acres) of
Buffer Zone 1 Impacts and a Total of 2,981 Square Feet (0.07 Acres) of Impacts for Buffer Zone
2. Mitigation will be compensated with Wetland Credits generated from U-5018, NC 43 over
Harris Mill. Run, a Culvert to Bridge Replacement Project an NC 43 near B's Bar-B-Que. The
amount of mitigation will be available when the regulatory agencies determine the acreage
involved. The Additional Impacts are needed to accommodate the additional dill material required
for guardrail and to build stable 3:1 slopes an the banks. The impacts are shown on the plan
