Subject: HC BBQ
Richard,
There are still a couple issues with the Stormwater Plan for this
project. They are:
My letter specifically required that the pump station O&M information be
added to the BMP O&M plan that was signed and notarized. That provides
us with documentation that the owner (who will be responsible for it
long term) is aware of the O&M needed. Putting the information on the
drawings does not suffice.
The soil media depth for the biorentention cell must be 3 feet for trees
and shrubs. I apologize that I did not identify that as an issue
previously.
Please let me know that you received this email. I 'will need to either
receive updated information (2 copies) that addresses these items by
August 29, 2008 or I'll have to send another letter which formally
requests this information. If you know that you will not be able to
submit new inforamtion by this date, please let me know asap via email
and I'll just go ahead and send the formal letter.
Thank you.

Pump Station Maintenance
• After each rain event a visual inspection will be conducted on the pump station to
ensure the pump operated.
• Quarterly, the pump will be filled with the water to check pump operation.
• The control panel will be checked to see if the warning light was activated.

Bioretention Operation and Maintenance Agreement
I will keep a maintenance record on this BUF This maintenance record will be kept in a
log in a known set location Any deficient BW elements noted in the inspection will be
corrected, repaired or replaced immediately. These deficiencies can affect the integrity
of structures, safety of the public, and the removal efficiency of the BW.
Important operation and maintenance procedures:
- Immediately after the b"etentionc cell is established, the plants will be watered
twice weekly if needed until the plants become established (commonly six
weeks).
- Snow, mulch or any other material will NEVER be piled on the surface of the
bioretention cell.
- Heavy equipment will NEVER be driven over the bioretention cell
- Special care will be taken to prevent sediment from entering the bioretention cell.
- Once a year, a soil test of the sod media will be conducted.
After the bioretention cell is established, I will inspect it once a month and within 24
hours after every storm event greater than 1.0 inches (or 15 inches if in a Coastal
County). Records of operation and maintenance will be kept in a known set location
and will be available upon request.
Inspection activities shall be performed as follows. Any problems that are found shall
be repaired immediately.
