R-2582 & R~-2584 Northamrtcr~ County The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold a series of three (3) Pre-Hearing Open Houses for the above mentioned highway projects, each followed by a Corridor Public Hearing, at the following times and locations: • Monday, September 22, 2008: Pre-Hearing Open House - 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., Garysburg Town Hall -Multi-Purpose Room, 504 Old Highway Road, Garysburg • Thursday, September 25, 2008: Pre-Hearing Open House - 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., Jackson Cultural Wellness Center, 9536 NC 305 Highway, Jackson • Tuesday, September 30, 2008: Pre-Hearing Open House - 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., Conway Middle School -Cafeteria, Conway • The formal presentations of the proposed projects will follow the Pre-Hearing Open Houses, each evening f,~eginning at 7:00 p.m. The presentations; vrill consist of an explanation of the proposed design corridor alternatives, followed by a question and answer period. The purpose of these hearings is to provide information regarding the design and location of the proposed projects, and to obtain public input. Interested citizens may drop by ariy of the pre- hearing open houses at any time during the above mentioned hours and view the project maps on display. NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer questions and receive comments relative to the proposed projects. "i he opportunity to submit written comments or questions wi-I also be provided. NCDOT proposes to widen US 158 from the I-95 / NC 46 interchange to the Murfreesboro Bypass. The alternatives under consideration will utilize the existing highway in some sections, while other sections will be constructed on a new location. The widening of US 158 will convert the existing two-lane highway to a four-lane, median divided highway. The proposed highway will have 12-foot lanes, paved shoulders, and a 46-foot wide grassy median. Maps showing the design alternatives along the length of the entire project corridor and a copy of the approved environmental document, State Draft Environmental Impact Statement, are available for public review at the Garysburg Town Hall, 504 Old Highway Road, Garysburg, 27831, and at the Jackson Cultural Wellness Center, 9536 NC 305 Highway, Jackson, 27845. Anyone desiring additional information may contact Mr. Ed Lewis, Human Environment Unit, 1583 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1583; telephone (919) 715-1593; or email elewis _ncdot.gov. NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this workshop. Anyone requiring special services should contact Mr. Lewis as early as possible so that arrangements can be made.
