I am a resident of a family farm that is contiguous to the property on which the development is proposed. I am upset over the potential negative impact on my property and on this community. These are the concerns of Anne C. Weatherford, resident of One Briar Branch Road in Black Mountain, Buncombe County, North Carolina. My chief concern is with respect to WELL AND SPRING WATER QUANTITY. I have learned just today that the French Broad River's water flow is the lowest it has been in 100 years. I have lived here every summer since 1954 and year round since 1984 and have never seen Briar Branch as low as it is now. The prospect of having an 18 hole golf course at 4000 feet elevation on property adjoining mine disturbs me. I know that the golf course would require much watering and I fear that would impact the quantity of water in my well and the two springs on my property. I am also concerned about WELL AND SPRING WATER QUALITY. I am very concerned about the chemicals that would be used on the golf course and to winterize the roads leading to the development. The chemical run off would adversely effect the quality of our water from our well and the springs situated on the slope next to the development. We would like assurance that our water resources will not be reduced in quantity or quality. I feel that the Cliff's application does not demonstrate a thorough enough effort of avoiding negative impact on stream, wetland, open water and water resources. Therefore I request a Public Hearing. Sincerely, Anne Weatherford ! Request for Public Hearing, Cliffs of High Carolina.eml Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Encoding: 7bit I of 1 8/18/2008 10:54 AM
