MAR 212017 Notice of Closure of Wastewater Outfall 001 WaterQuaility Riverbend Steam Station (NC0004961) —Gaston County PembogSeCtion Dear Mr. Pitner, In accordance with the requirements of Part III of NPDES wastewater permit NC0004961, Duke Energy is hereby providing notim of closure for Outtal1001, once through 000ling water at Riverbend Station in Gaston County, NC. Riverbend is a retired facility and expecting full closure by 2019. Duke plans to permanently close the Discharge Tunnel at the Riverbend Steam Station, Outfall 001. Stop logs will be installed at the end of the tunnel and once installed and sealed, dewatering of the tunnel will occur. Once the tunnel is dewatered, flowable fill mix will be used to permanently fill in the tunnel. At the completion of the filling process, stop logs will be left in place and the Discharge Tunnel Outlet Structure will be left In place. Demolition of structures above grade will occur at a later date. Please direct any correspondence or questions concerning the Riverbend Steam Station NPDES Permitting and Compliance to Brad Loveland @ 704-609-5637.
