I am writing in regards to the Cliffs new development in/near Asheville, NC. It was recently
brought to my attention this company has requested permission to divert ground water in the
area for their new project. As a close neighbor (their property ends where mine begins at the top
of the ridge) to the new development I am concerned about the availability of water resources
for such a large community and its impact on my water supply. I do not know how you measure
these things to judge how much is needed or will be used should they decide to use well water. I
do know that our well which has produced adequate water for our four person home is producing
a lot less than it used to as evidenced by low pressure in the sinks and showers, etc. In the face
of recent drought conditions in the area I feel we need to take extra precautionary measures to
conserve the resources which we have. I request that you not give your approval to their
request for installing wells for what seems to be a rather large community before adequate
research is done to assure neighboring communities their water supply will not be jeopardized.
