RE: Request for Public Hearing Cliffs of High Carolina Community Development

Dear Ms. Karoly:
I am writing to you to request a public forum for open discussion concerning the
impending construction of the Cliffs at High Carolina community and golf course. I live
on Old Fort Road and will be a recipient of the increased traffic and congestion possible
from the Strauss Project.
I recognize the developer's right to sell and construct on this site as I too am in the
construction business. However, the impact upon 6000 feet of wetlands and waterways
calls for great care as the dwindling mountain habitat for all of us cannot be replaced
once it is destroyed or irrevocably damaged by anyone.
The increased traffic will burden an already stressed mountain road that must transport
children to school by bus. I understand the Old Fort entrance is not planned as the major
entrance, but I feel it will become a major connector for those traveling to Hendersonville
and the I-26 connector.
A public forum would not stop the construction of this Cliffs project, but it would give all
those concerned an opportunity to state these concerns. Mr. Anthony claims this will be
his biggest and best community, his finest hour. Consideration for the land and streams
he will impact offer Anthony an opportunity to demonstrate how mountain construction
can be done without sacrificing the land to do it.
