Project Descrrplion:
Replace Bridge no. 145 on SR 1340 (McKinney Branch Rd) over McKinney Branch with new bridge or
culvert shucture. Area of potential effects is 50 feet either side from centerline of the bridge and 200 feet
from either end of the bridge. Projec[ length is 0.1 mile. Right-of-way will remain unchanged. Project will
have an off-site detour or stage construct.
SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW
7lrref description oJreview ac[ivities, resulls oJreview, and conclusions:
Review of HPO quad maps, HPOweb GIS mapping, historic designations roster, and indexes was
conducted on 7/12/12. Based on this review, there are no existing NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in
the Area of Potential Effects (APE). The CRS also reviewed Yancey County GIS and tax records and
although they revealed one of the properties within the APE to be greater than fifty years old (1960),
according to photos from tazc records, it does not appear to possess enough architectural significance or
interest to merit a survey. Additionally, Bridge no. 145 has not been included in the NCDOT Historic
Bridge Survey, but likely is not eligible for listing to the National Register of Historic Places acwrding
to aerial photography and standard bridge designs employed at that time in North Carolina. Thus, a
survey is not required for this project.

ehat rhere are no unidentified historre propereies in the APE:
IIPO quad maps, I{POweb GIS mapping, and Yancey County tax records are considered valid tools for
the purposes of determining the likelihood of historic resources being present. A survey is no[ required
for this project.
