SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW
Description ofreview activities, results, and conclusions: HPOWeb reviewed on 12 June 2014
and yielded no NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Wilkes
County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated a partly wooded
APE with several late-twentieth-century resources (viewed 12 June 2014). The NCDOT Historic
Bridge Survey determined that Bridge No. 713, constructed in 1962, is not eligible for the
National Register as it is not representative of any distinctive engineering or aesthetic type.
Google Maps "Street View" confirmed the absence of critical structures and landscape resources
in the APE (viewed 12 June 2014).
No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined.
Whv the available informntion provides a reliable basis for reason�blv predictin� that there
are no unidentified si�ni�cnnt historic architectural or landscape resources in t/ze nroiect
area: APE extends 400 feet from either end of the existing bridge (E-W) and 100 feet to either
side of the SR 2486 (Meadows Road) centerline (N-S) to encompass proposed construction
activities. While no comprehensive historic architectural survey of Wilkes County exists, county
GIS/tax materials and other visuals clearly illustrate the absence of significant architectural
resources. No National Register-listed properties are located within the APE.
Should any aspect of the design change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture
as additional review may be necessary.
