MAINTENANCE:
THE EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS SHALL BE MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES BASED
UPON THE OBSERVATIONS MADE DURING THE REQUIRED SITE INSPECTIONS.
SEDIMENT BASIN: INSPECT THE OUTLET STRUCTURE TO ENSURE THAT THE BASIN IS DRAINING PROPERLY. REMOVE
ANY ACCUMULATED DEBRIS WHICH MAY IMPEDE THE BASIN DEWATERING. ACCUMULATED SEDIMENT WITHIN THE BASIN
SHALL BE REMOVED ONCE THE SEDIMENT ELEVATION HAS REACHED THE CLEANOUT ELEVATION AS INDICATED ON THE
DETAIL. A STAKE INSTALLED WITHIN THE BOTTOM OF THE BASIN INDICATING THIS ELEVATION CAN BE PROVIDED AND
VISUALLY INSPECTED. THE REMOVED SEDIMENT SHALL BE STABILIZED ON-SITE.
DIVERSION CHANNEL & CHECK DAM: INSPECT THE CHANNELS TO ENSURE RUNOFF FROM THE SITE IS PROPERLY BEING
ROUTED TO THE SEDIMENT BASIN. REMOVE ACCUMULATED SEDIMENT FROM THE CHECK DAMS WHEN THE HEIGHT OF
THE SEDIMENT HAS REACHED'/z OF THE DAM HEIGHT. EROSION CONTROL MATTING SHALL BE REPLACED OR
REINSTALLED IF DAMAGED BY THE RUNOFF.
SEDIMENT FENCE: ACCUMULATED SEDIMENT MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE FENCE WHEN THE SEDIMENT REACHES/2

AT THE DIRECTION OF THE CITY OF KANNAPOLIS, CABARRUS COUNTY, AND/OR NORTH
CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES.
CONTRACTOR SITE INSPECTION AND REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A RAIN GAUGE ONSITE AND CONDUCT EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL SITE INSPECTIONS AT LEAST ONCE
PER EVERY SEVEN DAYS AND WITHIN 24 HOURS OF A 0.5 INCH RAIN EVENT THAT OCCURS OVER A 24 HOUR PERIOD. THE CONTRACTOR MUST TAKE
IMMEDIATE ACTION FOR ANY DEVICE FAILURE. RECORDS OF INSPECTIONS AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TAKEN ARE REQUIRED.
PROJECT OWNER SELF INSPECTION AND REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
THE PROJECT OWNER REPRESENTATIVE MUST INSPECT THE SEDIMENT AND EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ON A PROJECT AFTER EACH PHASE OF
THE PROJECT TO MAKE SURE THE THE APPROVED EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL PLAN IS BEING FOLLOWED. SELF -INSPECTION
REPORTS ARE REQUIRED.
AS A MINIMUM, THE INSPECTIONS SHALL BE PERFORMED AFTER EACH OF THE FOLLOWING PHASES OF A PLAN:
1. INSTALLATION OF PERIMETER EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES.
2. INSTALLATION OF SEDIMENT TRAPS/BASINS.
3. CLEARING AND GRUBBING OF EXISTING GROUND COVER.
4. COMPLETION OF ANY PHASE OF GRADING THAT REQUIRES PROVISION OF STABILIZATION.
5. INSTALLATION OF MEASURES DURING ANY PHASE OF THE PROJECT.
6. COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT.
7. INSTALLATION OF STORMWATER RETENTION MEASURES.
8. QUARTERLY UNTIL THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PERMANENT GROUND COVER IS FULLY ESTABLISHED.
IF IT IS OBSERVED DURING INSPECTIONS THAT SEDIMENT HAS DEPOSITED WITHIN A STREAM OR WETLAND, THE DIVISION OF WATER QUALITY
REGIONAL OFFICE MUST BE NOTIFIED WITHIN 24 HOURS AND A WRITTEN RESPONSE PROVIDED WITHIN 5 DAYS. A COPY OF THE CORRESPONDENCE
IS REQUIRED TO BE SENT TO THE DIVISION OF LAND RESOURCE.
