Andrea — thank you for your review and comments for the proposed Grassy Knoll project in Blowing Rock. Your suggestions are
perfectly reasonable, and are techniques and methods we plan to incorporate (drying the pond sediment, immediate
seed/straw/matting, biodegradable netting, etc.). My intent with the large "flat rock" at the outlet was in fact to act as a grade
control point in the channel (I just should have labeled and worded it better).
We only have an elevation change of — 1' from the existing bottom of pond at the inlet down to the existing bottom of channel at
the outlet (— 1% slope). Plus, the channel width at bankfull is only going to be — 2', so we are dealing with a pretty small
structure! I have modified and scaled down a typical cross vane design, with rocks keyed into the bank and lined with
geotextile. Please see the attached crude drawing/detail to be included as a supplement to our PCN.
Thanks again
Ron
