NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE
PROPOSED EXTENSION OF SR 1163 (GEORGETOWN ROAD) FROM
SR 1184 (OCEAN ISLE BEACH ROAD) TO NC 179

TIP Project No. R-3432 Brunswick County

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is holding a
Citizens Informational Workshop on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, from 4:00 PM to
7:00 PM in the Conference Room of the Ocean Isle Inn, located at 37 W. First
Street, Ocean Isle, 28469. The public is invited to attend the workshop between
the scheduled times. Maps will be presented indicating the proposed roadway,
and NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive
comments. There will be no formal presentation.

This project proposes a new route extending SR 1163 (Georgetown Road)
from SR 1184 (Ocean Isle Beach Road) to NC 179. The proposed roadway will
be a two-lane roadway with 12-foot lanes and shoulders. The purpose and need
of the project is to alleviate traffic congestion along existing NC 179 by providing
an alternate route and establish a more direct travel route between the towns of
Shallotte and Calabash.
