RE: Notification of Start of Study Activities for the US 64 Corridor Improvements from west of
SR 1308 (Laura Duncan Road) to US 1 in Cary and Apex, Wake County, WBS No., TIP
No. 47018.1.1
Dear Mr. Ridings,
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is starting the project development,
environmental and engineering studies for the proposed US 64 Corridor Improvements. This
project is approximately 3.4 miles long. The project is included in the current NCDOT 10 Year
Work Program. Right of way acquisition is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2022 and construction is
scheduled for Fiscal Year 2024.
We would appreciate any information you might have that would be helpful in evaluating
potential environmental impacts of the project. At this time, it is anticipated that a Categarical
Exclusion (CE) will be prepared for this project. The project will likely require the following
pernuts: (USACE Section 404 permit and NCDENR Section 401 Water Quality Certification).
Please respond by May 1, 2017, so that your comments can be used in the selection of
alternatives to be studied for this project. PDFs of the vicinity and study area maps are attached
for your reference
